GPA Calculator

A grade point average is a weighted mean: a five-credit course pulls the number much harder than a one-credit elective. Add a row per course, enter the grade points and the credits, and the average updates as you type.

How to use it

  1. Enter each course's grade in points and how many credits it carries.
  2. Press add for as many courses as you need.
  3. Read the weighted average and the total credits below it.

Questions people ask

Which grade points should I enter?

Whatever your institution uses. The common American scale runs A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3 and so on down, but the calculator does not assume any scale — it simply weights the numbers you give by credits.

How do I work out the grade I need next term?

Add a row for the coming term, enter the credits, and try grade values until the overall average reaches your target. That tells you the minimum term average you need, which is usually more useful than the current number alone.
