Dice Roller

For board games with lost dice and tabletop role-playing at a distance. Choose how many dice and how many sides, add a modifier, and every individual roll is shown alongside the total.

How to use it

  1. Set how many dice and how many sides each has.
  2. Add a modifier if your game uses one.
  3. Roll, and read the individual results under the total.

Questions people ask

Are virtual dice as fair as real ones?

Arguably fairer. Physical dice have manufacturing flaws and biased throws; this uses the browser's cryptographic random source, which has no such tilt. Each face is equally likely on every roll.

Why does 2d6 land on 7 so often?

Because there are six different ways to make 7 from two dice and only one way to make 2 or 12. Adding dice creates a bell-shaped distribution, which is why many games prefer several dice over one large one.
